About Dr. Folashade Fadahunsi Lester

Dr. Shade Lester is board-certified in family medicine who has enjoyed providing the highest level of care to patients ranging from infants to adults since 2002. She is passionate about practicing quality-based medicine in a broad range of fields, specifically prevention and management of diabetes and other chronic diseases. She has participated in the Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute and is a member of the American Academy of Diabetes Educators.
Dr. Lester graduated cum laude from Howard University where she majored in microbiology. She studied medicine at Meharry Medical College and completed her residency at the University of Texas - Southwestern, serving as chief resident.
She encourages patients to maintain positive emotional health, and believes it's a key component to good physical health. She also stresses the importance of exercise as it's a powerful tool that can improve overall health in numerous ways. She enjoys working with her patients to help them make informed decisions and achieve their health goals.
Dr. Lester is continuously seeking opportunities to serve, being an active deaconess and serving in the medical ministry at her church, Living Hope Bible Fellowship. Additionally, she is on the Board of Directors for Living Hope Ministries, through which she attended her first mission trip to Nigeria, the country where her parents were born. She is also on the Board of Directors for A Sister’s Gift, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the plight of women who suffer from HIV/AIDS. Dr. Lester is also a proud and active member in the Denton County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Dr. Lester lives in Carrollton with her husband and three children. She enjoys spending time with family, running, traveling, shopping and supporting the Dallas Cowboys.

Dr. Lester was patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I’m very pleased with the level of care and time she set aside for my appointment. Going in for a yearly physical is NOT my favorite activity and after skipping a couple of years (I blame COVID!) Dr. Lester did not make me feel guilty and instead had a positive attitude, and provided support in getting me back on track with routine preventative care. Dr. Lester listened to my concerns, offered sound and attainable lifestyle advice and wrote referrals for all the standard check-ups recommended for my demographic. Thank you Dr. Lester!

Dr. Lester was extremely helpful with explaining different approaches to my situation. She was thorough, encouraging and I would highly recommend visiting her! Although, I wasn't seen at the exact time, which is understandable, I was still able to address my concerns and left my visit on time.

She was really amazing. I think a lot of times you aren’t comfortable with your doctor to be honest and open about the real concerns you have. She made me at ease and I felt like we had a safe space in our visit. I am glad that I made the appointment with her she was very thorough and explained things at a level that I could understand. Very comforting first visit; I told Dr. Lester and her nurse that I was showing symptoms of arthritis. I'm 21, so this was incredibly scary to me, but after a detailed series of questions, she sent me to get tested the same day. Just got the results back and they seem to suggest I really do have an immune disorder, so I can take the next steps to get diagnosed by a rheumatologist. Happy to say I felt heard and taken care of throughout it all! Would recommend Dr. Lester to anyone!
