Dr. Jaleema Speaks, MD

Dr. Jaleema Speaks, MD

OB-GYN
114 Charlois Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC
My path to obstetrics and gynecology is deeply personal. My grandmother taught Lamaze classes in her home and garden in Antigua, West Indies, and she was the person generations of women turned to for health and fitness guidance, especially to manage labor and pregnancy concerns. She is still remembered by many mothers and now grandmothers for how she cared for them during pregnancy and beyond. Her dedication planted a seed in me. A love of science and a genuine desire to be present for women at some of the most important moments of their lives drew me to this specialty. What I find most meaningful about OB-GYN is the continuity of relationship it allows. My connections with patients can span decades, and that kind of trust is something I take seriously. My approach to care is collaborative. Working together toward shared healthcare goals is at the center of everything I do, and I am a strong advocate for my patients and for the broader community. Patience is something I bring to every appointment. My goal is for every woman who walks through the door to leave feeling seen and heard. Throughout my career, I have taken on significant leadership roles. At Forsyth Medical Center, I served as OB-GYN division chair from 2014 to 2018, vice chief of staff from 2018 to 2020 and chief of staff from 2020 to 2022. I was named a Novant Medical Group Distinguished Physician Nominee in 2024 and received the Novant Medical Group Distinguished Physician award in 2025.
