She got me off to a good start as a new resident here in Bluffton. Gave me some good advise on my medications and has me set up to see some specialists for the various health concerns I have. She seems very competent.

My scheduled appointment was for an annual physical as a new patient. I had tried to schedule an appointment last spring when I was sick and was told I had to schedule a new patient appointment before I could come in for a sick visit. I scheduled the appointment over a week in advance and selected annual physical as a new patient. The day before the appointment, I had a muscle spasm in my lower back. I've had this happen before and with rest it heals. I went in for my new patient annual physical and made the mistake of mentioning the muscle spasm in my back. This doctor decided to turn my annual physical into an appointment about my back. She looked at my back and ordered X-rays and prescriptions. I did not go for the X-rays or buy the prescriptions because these things are not needed for a muscle spasm. I left the appointment thinking it was the worst new patient annual physical I've ever had. Then the bill came and I found out that the doctor decided, without my knowledge, to change my appointment to a sick visit and not code it as it should have been. My insurance would have paid the full amount for a new patient annual physical. So, now I have a bill for a doctor to look at my back and order unnecessary X-rays and prescriptions. The office manager said they cannot change the coding on my bill because it could be considered fraud. I guess my understanding of fraud is different from this doctor's, in assuming that going to an appointment scheduled as an annual physical would be just that and would be coded appropriately. The irony is, I could not get an appointment when I was sick, so I went for a new patient visit and was charged for a sick visit. This, to me is fraud.

I was harassed about my medical insurance,and made to feel embarrassed because I didn't bring my medicine bottles. I have seen at least 50 doctors in my short life and I will never go back to this office. The nurse and the doctor need to learn how to do their jobs and learn how to talk to people like human beings.
