Dr. Malieri Colon-Rivera, MD is a compassionate and dedicated Primary Care Physician, and a board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare.
She began her academic journey at Metropolitan University in Puerto Rico, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences with a major in Biology as part of the Honors Program. Dr. Colon-Rivera went on to receive her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
Upon returning to Puerto Rico, she completed her Primary Care internship at Metropolitan Hospital under the Junta de Licenciamiento y Disciplina Médica de Puerto Rico (JLDM) in 2005. Demonstrating her commitment to serving the community, she then fulfilled a social service year in Primary Care at the Oncology Hospital Dr. Isaac González Martínez in 2006.
During her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Colon-Rivera distinguished herself as Chief Resident and was honored with the Best Resident Teacher Award, recognizing her dedication to education and her passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
Her contributions extend beyond clinical care. Dr. Colon-Rivera has authored research published in peer-reviewed journals and successfully passed medical board examinations in three countries, including the United States. She has also been actively involved in initiatives to improve community health, including developing proposals to secure funding for programs that expand access to care for underserved populations.
With a strong passion for excellence in primary care, Dr. Colon-Rivera focuses on preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and patient care. She believes that the combination of knowledge and compassion is essential to providing complete, well-rounded care for every patient she serves.

The doctor did not spend time getting to know me. And one month after my appointment, I reached out to the office for a prescription refill via the portal and by phone without being helped. The office does not answer the main line and the messages going through the portal do not register or save in the history. After multiple attempts, I am unable to reach anyone.

She was pleasant enough and seemed knowledgeable but was very dismissive of the reason I booked the appointment. We also discussed needing a specialist but she offered no clear instructions to see said specialist. In fact her whole practice is rampant with conmunication issues. I don't plan on returning to her office. Again she was nice and knowledgeable but my needs weren't met.
