I was surprised to meet Dr. Rutman, inside of a PA or NP. He mentioned that this office liked to give their patients the opportunity to meet with the doctor instead of ancillary people. The doctor was helpful and complete is his assessment for my needs.

Just saw Dr. Rutman for a routine, annual physical. He was friendly and thorough! He even did and ECG as part of my physical and uncovered an issue I was unaware of. I've never had an ECG and am glad I did! His office staff is friendly and efficient. Hiccup with the ZocDoc booking first time around (auto-cancelled), but was rectified easily. Highly recommend!

Dr. Rutman practiced medicine in the Detroit, Michigan area until 1985 at which time he moved with his family to San Diego, California. In 1985, he founded North Coast Internal Medicine and set up practice in Encinitas, CA. He joined the medical staffs of Scripps Encinitas and La Jolla Hospitals. In 1992, he opened a second office in the Ximed building on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
In 2010, Dr. Rutman moved his Encinitas office to a brand new, modern state-of-the-art building located at 2355 S. Melrose on the border between Carlsbad and Vista. He continues to have admitting privileges at Scripps Encinitas Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla where he has remained on-staff, uninterrupted for 25 years.

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Rutman, and I am pleased. His staff was very friendly, and the place itself was very neat. The waiting area has super comfy chairs, but don't get too comfortable, you won't be waiting too long! Dr. Rutman was very polite and made me feel comfortable when explaining my situation. The doctor took his time and made sure to ask a lot of questions so he can really identify what is going on. Do much different and better than my last one!
The last doctor I had practically pushed me out the door. When i walked out -he was on his phone. No more than 2 minutes in his office.
The location wad a hassle to find because any map wrist or Google map will bring you to the wrong location so that's the annoying. The parking is free under 30 minutes but 4 dollars for the first hour.
All in all
I would highly recommend him:)

Dr Rutman was willing to listen with gentle bedside manner. Ordered appropriate tests to decipher medical problems that may not be apparent on physical exam. Medical staff were friendly and ambitious and technically skilled. Vey pleasant experience!

Terribly unprofessional office environment. Dr. Rutman kept me in his waiting room 45 minutes while his administrative assistants gossiped, and he didn't listen to my problems, making our visit extremely unproductive.
