I was born and raised in rural Vietnam, where I saw family members fall ill from preventable diseases - an experience that shaped my early understanding of health disparities. My mother, a biology teacher, fostered my love for science, and I eventually realized that medicine offered a way to combine this interest with my desire to serve others. Being an ob-gyn allows me to build meaningful, long-term relationships with women while also engaging in the hands-on work of surgery. Supporting patients through every stage of life - from adolescence to childbirth to menopause - is a privilege I deeply value. I strive to provide care that's evidence-based and grounded in trust. When a patient places her faith in me, she can expect a thoughtful, collaborative partner who listens deeply, explains clearly and advocates fiercely. She'll also find in me a physician who's compassionate, committed to excellence and a champion for equity. My clinical and surgical skills were honed at Duke University, which has one of the country's Top 10 OB-GYN training programs. My training included low-resource settings abroad and underserved communities in the U.S., which has helped me in my desire to provide culturally sensitive care. While at Duke, I won several fellowships and awards for scholarship and service, including one in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI), the Intern Student Teaching Award in the OB-GYN department, a Duke Global Health Institute research grant awarded to third-year medical students and an award for community service, among others. I also serve on the board for World Relief Durham Development Team. Outside medicine, I find joy and renewal in the outdoors, which I love to experience in a variety of ways, including running, biking, kayaking, camping and climbing. I summited Mount Kenya and have plans for both Machu Picchu and Kilimanjaro.
