Getting to know A B Kaplan
As an intensively trained DBT therapist with a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University, I use a collaborative approach to help clients build A Life Worth Living. As a performance coach and certified personal trainer, I assist clients in integrating their health and fitness goals with their current lifestyle while helping them understand and manage the impact of their emotions on their fitness, health, and day-to-day life. In teaching skills to both groups, I work together with clients to develop their own plan for overcoming the emotional and physical barriers currently challenging them and then create their path for moving forward and achieving their goals.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My focus is on each one of my clients and assisting them to establish, prioritize and achieve the goals they bring to therapy. My areas of practice are DBT, ERP, Clinical Hypnotherapy and EMDR. I have 20+ years of professional experience working with older adolescents, adults and families in mental health, addiction/recovery and fitness and training.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I help clients in shifting their focus towards balance and skill building in order to support change through effective choices. I specialize in treatment of addiction/recovery, mood lability, anxiety, depression, codependency and trauma. I use techniques which reinforce a healthy lifestyle, promote fitness and improve overall emotional and physical wellness.
