Aalanah Peoples, LCSW

Psychotherapist
4007 N Broadway, 106, Chicago, IL
I have always been interested in absorbing the way human systems (social, political, economic, etc.) are developed, protected, attacked, and re-invented over time. I make this distinct connection in a psychological sense of developing, protecting, challenging, and re-inventing ourselves in therapy. My personal approach to treating clients will always be laced with good will, humor, openness, competency, and most importantly collaboration. My hope is that after a session with me you will feel lighter and gain knowledge about yourself to thrive. I don’t use therapy as a cold clinical space but a warm and supportive space as if it is just a honest conversation with someone you can trust. I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all, linear process, hoops for clients to jump through, or perfection. Therapy is a collaborative experience between therapist and client to develop a variety of skills to build a path towards fulfillment, confidence, and joy. In my experience, therapy is meant to be a safe space to explore, grow, and reflect on challenges that are apparent and hidden. Therapy is a fresh oasis for you to digest, express, and confront obstacles while enhancing your quality of life. Finding strength, solutions, reflection, resources, or even just an opportunity to express difficult life events is my idea of effective therapy. Just as there is a range of people with different problems, identities, goals, etc…there is a range of therapeutic approaches I will utilize that best suits you and your needs. My hope for clients is to provide a safe and supportive space for you to enhance your quality of life by feeling empowered, assured, and confident in yourself to address any obstacle may come your way. This means sharpening your mental health toolkit that could encompass effective regulation skills, self-reflection, problem solving skills, communication skills, and above all patience and grace for yourself.
