Psychotherapist
AR
Hi there, I'm Abby! I believe you are more than your hardest moments. I especially enjoy working with teens and young adults who may feel misunderstood, distrust therapy, or have been labeled “difficult.” My goal is to offer a space where you can be yourself, feel genuinely understood, and still be challenged to grow. My focus I specialize in trauma/PTSD, anxiety, TBI, emotional dysregulation, anger, and complex behavioral concerns. I have a particular passion for teens and young adults who resist therapy, challenge authority, struggle to trust others, or have been labeled “difficult,” including those with residential or legal-system involvement. My approach My approach balances compassion with accountability. I primarily use Gestalt therapy, focusing on present-moment awareness and the mind-body connection, while integrating person-centered care, DBT skills, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I tailor therapy to the person rather than expecting you to fit a formula. My communication style I’m warm, authentic, curious, and direct. You don’t need to perform or tell me what you think I want to hear. I value humor and genuine connection and won’t shame you for where you’ve been. I’ll listen deeply, ask questions that challenge your thinking, and be honest with you while respecting your autonomy. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist because I always cared deeply about understanding people beyond what is visible on the surface. Working with adolescents in residential treatment strengthened my passion for trauma work and clients others find difficult to reach. I believe being truly seen creates space for people to grow and heal without losing who they are. My goals for you We’ll identify what matters to you—not just what others think you should change. Together, we’ll notice patterns, understand what drives them, and practice new ways of responding.
