Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Abby! Hello, I'm Abby Duran, a Licensed Professional Counselor in California, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Florida. I have been licensed for 12 years and have worked in mental health for 22 years. I have extensive experience with individuals, couples, military personnel, and those with traumatic brain injury. I work with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, stress, and trauma. My approach I was trained in Gestalt therapy and utilize other modalities such as CBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-focused care, person-centered therapy, marriage/couples counseling, and several others. My focus I typically work with individuals and couples between the ages of 18 and 65, utilizing teletherapy. My communication style I work to create a space where clients feel safe and secure. I have a very direct but compassionate style of therapy where I hope to show my clients deep empathy and authenticity so that they feel comfortable coming as they are. My journey to therapy I first started in this field as a psychiatric technician while in college. My passion for helping others through difficult times grew from that point on. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor after completing my master's degree. I have worked extensively with individuals ages 2 to 75 who have experienced trauma. Being allowed to be a small part of someone's healing journey is what keeps me passionate about this work every day. My goals for you In the first 1-2 sessions, I will work with you to identify your goals for therapy and discuss what approach might be most beneficial. My first session with you During the first session, we will review limits of confidentiality, consent for treatment, therapeutic approach, expectations and rights, client history, and goals.
