“Adam-Jon has been a great therapist for my mental health needs. He knows when to push me to talk or when I need to sit in silence so I can dig deep into my thoughts and feelings on why certain things affect me the way they do. I know everyone's mental health journey is different and I'm grateful Adam-Jon was a part of mine as I worked to improve mine. I'm very sad that I moved and he isn't licensed in my new state. But he has been helpful in my transition to the new state and provided recommendations for me for other therapists in my area. ”

Getting to know Adam-Jon Aparicio

I specialize in helping clients unpack the past (especially when it negatively impacts the present), sharpen their problem-solving skills, and build lives that feel aligned and empowered. My role as a therapist will be to help you unpack & focus on your goals. So, if you're seeking to take action in creating your most fulfilled life, let's meet for a free 30min consultation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm direct, warm, and I show up as a real person, not a blank therapist face. My approach is Gestalt-informed, meaning we focus on what's alive for you right now. I specialize in working with gay men and allies around identity, trauma, and relationships. Expect honesty, some humor, and a space where you don't have to have it together to get real work done.

AJ was really incredible. He changed my life, I won't get into that but you should know he is patient, kind, really knows what he is doing. I love life and contribute a great deal of that to AJ! Thanks AJ!
Adam-Jon made me feel comfortable right away. I had a safe space to share my thoughts and process with a trusted professional. He not only took the time to fully understand my perspective, but offered helpful suggestions that supported my journey.
Adam-Jon creates a safe and welcoming space at all visits we’ve had together. He’s very patient, a great listener and gives honest feedback. He’s so easy to connect with while maintaining a high level of professionalism which I appreciate in a therapist. I highly recommend!
My work with Adam-Jon was paramount in my healing process and helped me work through some serious roadblocks. It felt safe to open up and share some of the struggles that related to my intersecting identities. I felt Adam was knowledgeable, intentional and empathetic.
Adam was my first experience with an openly gay, LatinX therapist and he did not disappoint. Although the therapy was in a group setting, it was a highly-rewarding experience, largely in-part to Adam's patience, skillful navigation, and incredible insight. I'm very thankful for the strategies he presented and the focus he provided to the group. Would definitely recommend 10/10.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time and sessions with Adam-Jon. He is warm, personable, witty, and caring. He listens well, responds with sincerity and respect, and genuinely advocates for his client's wellbeing. He has excellent communication skills, exceptional emotional intelligence, and a calm demeanor making him the ideal counselor in my personal opinion. I would highly recommend him to any friend of mine. I moved out of state, otherwise I would still be in counseling with him.
AJ has a unique approach to therapy that makes it easy to talk about the hard stuff, relatable to current events or pop culture, and will hold you accountable while leaving you feeling relieved after the session. 10/10 recommend.
Working with Adam was great! I did a weekly group therapy session led by him and it was great. He did well in leading the group and getting us to go deeper with very pointed questions. Highly recommend him to anyone else looking to do therapy!
I have nothing but great things to say about Adam-Jon, or AJ as I call him. In late 2018 I was in a very dark time in my life and was only the second time that I had searched for any kind of counseling. My first time was not a great experience and I was wary of trying again. After meeting AJ those feelings of doubt went away! As a gay man and a Latino I wanted to find someone that could speak to those experiences. AJ was the counselor I was looking for. Over the course of almost 18 months the work I did with AJ made me feel like I had the tactics, knowledge and self sufficiency to take on my mental health challenges, anxiety and stressors. I attribute my time with AJ as one of the most rans times of my life.
