I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 13 years of experience in mental health and addictions. I hold a Master's in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I have worked in various settings, including residential, outpatient, and community-based environments. I specialize in anxiety, family conflicts, addictions, complex trauma, depression, grief and loss, and immigration issues. My goal is to remove the stigma associated with mental health and addiction by promoting a person-centered, holistic, multicultural, and integrative approach. I use evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused counseling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use the intake to work on establishing rapport and the therapeutic alliance and gathering information needed for diagnosis and treatment goals. Progress is not linear, and it's about celebrating small victories and realizing that small changes add up to long-term change. I do assign homework; it’s nothing major but involves working on skills in between sessions. I work with adults, adolescents, females, and males.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It is very important to focus on developing rapport and therapeutic alliance. I focus on the organic flow of sessions and creating a safe non-judgmental environment. Sessions typically start with being able to identify emotions and processing them in a way to increase emotional intelligence. Focus on the treatment goals and strategies in line with treatment. Finally discuss plan and strategy to address in between sessions.
