*PLEASE NOTE DOES NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE* Welcome! I’m so excited that you have stopped by. I’m Aimee, and as a wife and mom to two boys (one with autism), I know there is both joy and difficulty in being married, raising a family, and having a career. I have 20 years of experience as an instructional designer, talent development manager, and performance consultant. Often, I am asked why I left a successful corporate career to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Here is why I took the initial step. When my son was going through the very long journey of getting a diagnosis with autism (and any parent who has a child with autism knows what I mean by that), I started using my Lean and Six Sigma tools to help with his treatment. I also began helping other families and noticed the huge emotional toll this diagnosis had on them but was not being addressed. So, I decided to pursue my therapy license. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, my MBA from Southern Methodist University, and my Bachelor’s from the University of Texas at Austin. When I started my work in the mental health field, I noticed a strong opportunity to bridge the two worlds of mental health and corporate training/development. I know that many people and companies put great effort into learning the latest knowledge and skills to improve their work. In the mental health field, I noticed a large gap in applying the same structure, methods, and efforts to learning the knowledge and skills needed for personal life. There is no required course for becoming parents, no adult learning principles applied to relationship skills for marriage, and no defined learning for basic living skills. On the flip side, I have counseling sessions with clients whose workplace and leadership lack incredible communication skills and emotional awareness, which negatively impacts their personal life. From these experiences, my mission was born!
