Aimee Severe, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Aimee! My name is Aimee Severe, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of San Diego. I like to help people work through and reduce symptoms of mostly depression and anxiety by using tools that help them move beyond and find safe spaces. My approach I like to use CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused work to help my patients. My focus I enjoy working with clients aged 16 and up and specialize in LGBTQ+, prenatal and postpartum, women’s issues, and grief. I like to help pregnant and new moms get the most out of this time and find ways to feel less anxious and depressed and more fulfilled. For people in the LGBTQ+ community, I have specialized in gender health issues since 2014 and have always been an ally. During COVID, I decided to increase my skills and knowledge in assisting people moving through grief and took several seminars focusing on grief work with David Kessler. My communication style I like to have engaging communication and meet you where you feel comfortable beginning. I aim to help you feel safe and comfortable opening up about your concerns. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1997. I always knew I wanted to work in a field that helps people be their best. I decided to become a therapist so I could do just that. My goals for you I believe goals should be worked on from a joint perspective. We collaborate on goals that feel obtainable to you. My first session with you In our first session together, we will start with a brief introduction, then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
