Aisha Cooper, LPC

Psychotherapist
AL
Hello, my name is Aisha Cooper, licensed professional counselor #4662. I hold a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Alabama State University. My approach to therapy centers around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which I find most effective in challenging our thoughts to create the behavioral changes we need. I typically begin therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, then incorporate solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic/psychoanalysis, and humanistic approaches as follow-ups. I work with a wide range of clients, including children/adolescents, adults, geriatrics, LGBTQ individuals, and Veterans. I treat various conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, grief, and adjustment issues. I have also worked with clients with personality disorders. The environment I create for my clients encourages assertiveness. I want them to feel their feelings and emotions are validated and their words truly heard. I entered this career as the one among family and friends who always kept a level head and guided others in making the best decisions. My passion for helping others achieve their highest level of functioning drives me in this work. I like to get to know my clients and build rapport, learning about their likes and dislikes to tailor goal setting. The first session always involves rapport building and gathering a clear synopsis of the presenting symptoms.
