Psychotherapist
ME
Challenges, Choices, Changes . . . life throws challenges at us all the time; some can be very steep. With some professional help, choices can come to light. The right ones can lead us constructively forward. My approach I am trained to integrate both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Taken together, we have a powerful and flexible approach that targets both acute stress and fosters resilience. My focus Our work together should strengthen one's skills and resources, making it easier and more encouraging to navigate new landscapes in life. My communication style I have honed my listening skills over the years, which allows me to give you feedback you might not have considered before. The outcomes are often surprising. But where there's help, there's hope. And hope brings us through most any challenge. My journey to mental healthcare I started out as a high school teacher. I dealt with parents and students and heard a lot of heartbreaking stories. I wanted to offer professional help to them, so I started my training as a clinical counselor. My goals for you Goals are the steps we take to improve our quality of life. They emerge as we progress through life's journey; they may lead us to places we have not considered before. For me, therapy goals are not prewritten absolutes; they may hold surprises for us as we learn about ourselves and the new path that we may find ourselves on. My first session with you I want to hear your story! I will listen, and toward the end I'll share some of my professional impressions. I won't interview you. I will give you the time and space to feel safe. Then I might ask you a few questions to fill in the gaps and gain insight into who you are and who you want to be.
