What should a new client know about working with you?

My holistic counseling philosophy addresses concerns through thought processes, emotional dynamics, physical effects, and spiritual outlooks. I use various techniques depending on client needs, focusing on the present while referring to the past to facilitate change for the future. My approach is eclectic, drawing from multiple disciplines. I follow existential therapy to help clients find meaning in life, Person-Centered Therapy to support personal growth, and Gestalt therapy to focus on the present. Cognitive Behavioral techniques are also used to address maladaptive beliefs and behaviors. I value everyone's spirituality, race, culture, gender, and sexual/affectional orientation. As a counselor, I avoid imposing my values on you. I aim to help you identify and achieve your goals through increased self-awareness and personal growth. We work as equals, with you being the expert on yourself and me assisting you in discovering answers through self-exploration. I value honesty and empathy in building our therapeutic relationship. You will typically decide when your therapy concludes, except if I believe I am not qualified to help you, in which case I will refer you to another therapist.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy involves sharing personal, detailed, and confidential information, which may occasionally evoke strong emotions or uncomfortable feelings. At times, you might experience heightened confusion or anxiety. However, the overall treatment is often positive, productive, and helpful. I am here to support and guide you through the process, aiming to create a fulfilling therapeutic experience. Your well-being is always my top priority and a constant focus, ensuring you feel safe and secure.
