Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Albert! I am open to seeing anyone who feels bothered, ashamed, confused or frightened about oneself and who wishes to explore their feelings to feel better. It is not uncommon for one to be hesitant about seeing a therapist and opening up. I am here for you and understand you. I look at how you feel about yourself and give you the chance to feel comfortable so you can move forward. My approach My approach to treatment is to listen not only to your words but also to your feelings that lurk inside of you. I often provide reflections to give you assurance and to assist you to find and express your feelings. Therapy is not a cognitive exercise but a time to explore and deal with feelings. This can be frightening, but my assurances are meant to ease your fear so you can be who you are. My focus I enter the therapy room with the attitude that the time we spend together is your time. No matter who you are or what you choose to talk about, I focus on you and your feelings, both those of which you are aware, and those which frighten you and which you keep under wraps. This can be painful and at times embarrassing, but I hold steadfast in my approach to meet you where you are to assist you to move forward to reach your potential and goals. I cannot promise success. But together we can try. My communication style Attentive. Listening to cues. Understanding and seeing things as you see them. I will offer reflections, support, empathy, clarifications, and sometimes questions, and at times psycho-education. I offer my thoughts and feelings in a gentle, cautious and gentle way while leaving the door open for you to reflect and respond. My journey to mental healthcare My story begins with my leaving home, my college education, and then becoming an elementary school teacher, where I worked with troubled young people, teaching, coaching, and providing arts and crafts. I obtained a Master's degree to teach high school and then a Master's in Psychiatric Social Work.
