Getting to know Alecia Denillo

*Please Expect a Phone Call from our Office - Resilience Therapy - to confirm your scheduled appointment request.* I work with young adults who are exhausted from performing...performing confidence they don't feel, certainty they don't have, or a version of themselves they've outgrown. That might look like overthinking every interaction, struggling with self-doubt in relationships, or reaching a point where "just getting by" doesn't feel like enough anymore. As an LGBTQ+ therapist myself, I offer an affirming space where identity questions are welcome, not sidestepped. Whether you're navigating coming out, processing how your identity intersects with your family or culture, or simply looking for a therapist who truly gets it, you don't have to explain yourself here. I also work with people who are new to therapy and not sure what to expect, and with recovery-minded individuals who are ready to look honestly at patterns that aren't serving them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of my clients come in feeling like they should have figured themselves out by now. They're smart, they're doing the work, yet they still feel stuck. That gap between knowing what you "should" do and actually feeling okay is exactly where I work. I specialize in identity, self-esteem, anxiety, and the exhaustion that comes from constantly questioning yourself, and I'm also experienced with body image concerns, ADHD, perfectionism, and the complicated feelings that can come with major life changes. Sessions feel like a real conversation where you can be uncertain, contradictory, and still figuring it out. That's the point.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start by getting to know the whole you. We’ll explore your history, your patterns, and what you actually hope therapy will give you, without assumptions or rushing toward solutions. Early sessions are about building the kind of trust where you feel comfortable saying the real things, not just the presentable version. From there, I draw on DBT, attachment-based approaches, and compassion-focused techniques to help you build a more grounded relationship with yourself, develop emotional regulation skills that hold up under pressure, and shift the patterns that keep you stuck.
