Alecia Ford, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Alecia! Alecia Ford, Licensed Professional Therapist and National Certified Counselor. My approach to therapy is the lens through which I view human relationships and client issues. Behavioral therapy-an action-oriented method focusing on changing behavioral responses that cause distress-is a common approach I use. It addresses anxiety, phobias, and ADHD. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and the Humanistic approach also inform my work. My approach Psychotherapy theories provide a framework to interpret clients' behavior, thoughts, and feelings and help them navigate their journey from diagnosis to post-treatment. I commonly practice Cognitive theory methods and choose the most appropriate method for each client. My focus I work with clients challenged by anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem, self-image, and grief. I'm most comfortable treating anxiety, depression, and trauma. For these and other mental health conditions, I find CBT a helpful treatment option. My communication style The tone and environment I create for sessions are non-judgmental, comfortable, and genuine. I am honest and realistic, yet empathetic. Working with me is like working with a very understanding, professional, yet heartwarming person. Sessions are typically once a week for 45 to 50 minutes. Both client and I are actively involved in therapy. Trust and the relationship between us are important for working effectively and making gains. My journey to mental healthcare I earned my Master's in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. I enjoy using my empathy and compassion to support clients in challenging times.
