He earned his Associate Degree at the New Mexico Military Institute, a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Riverside, and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. Alex worked for one of the largest youth service organizations in the county. He also worked extensively with adults who struggle with substance addictions and co-occurring challenges including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. Alex uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based practice that helps people identify unhelpful thinking patterns that affect mood and behavior. He also uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which helps with mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
