Life can be challenging at times, but there are many paths out of the struggle. I believe that people are the experts of their own lives, and a counselor works as a guide to help the client uncover the answers that are already inside of them. Through collaboration, therapy can be a place of power for a client. Effective counseling is rooted in deep care, mutual respect, and perpetual learning. An effective counselor knows her clients deeply, helps them achieve their goals, and is open to change. After 15 years as a special education teacher, English teacher, and high school administrator, I was drawn to pursue a degree in counseling to be able to better support the emotional needs of others. I earned a Masters of Counseling from Northwestern University in June of 2022 and worked as a mental health counselor at a community college in the Houston, TX area from the time I graduated until July 2025. Through that work, I was regularly moved by the insight and compassion of students. In my work, I have specialized in supporting adults as they navigate grief from losing a parent or caregiver, process childhood trauma, develop self-compassion, and work to recognize and regulate their emotions. I believe deeply in the power of the counseling relationship. If you are struggling to cope with the challenges you are currently facing, we can work to improve your life together. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and for that I appreciate you. Please contact me to see if we're a good fit.
