Alexandra Shauger, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
I approach every client as an individual with a unique set of goals and needs. These help tailor my approach and identify skills and strategies to best meet those individual needs. Most often, I’m operating from a cognitive behavioral framework, meaning we look at how thoughts and emotions affect behaviors. The hope is that by identifying the underlying root emotion or issue, we can address any unwanted behaviors. I graduated with my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 2016 and also earned my bachelor’s degree from the same institution. I started working in the healthcare field with patients who had experienced loss and or suffered a traumatic event. I then transitioned to work within the legal system in late 2017, where I have been ever since. In addition to my work in the courts, I currently hold my clinical license and practice independently as well, working with clients experiencing a range of symptoms from anxiety to adjustment disorder to borderline personality disorder. I’m a transplant to Texas from New Jersey. I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young boys. When I get a free moment to myself, I like reading and watching crime documentaries!
