Getting to know Alexandria Lanza

You do not need another session where you talk in circles for 45 minutes and leave with the same problem waiting for you in the car. You need time. Focus. Depth. A place to finally pull apart the pattern instead of just surviving the latest version of it. I specialize in therapy intensives for adults, couples, parents, and families who are tired of feeling stuck. Maybe you keep having the same fight. Maybe you are holding the entire family together and quietly falling apart. Maybe you have spent years understanding your patterns but still cannot seem to stop repeating them. Maybe weekly therapy feels too slow, too scattered, or like you are just getting warmed up when the session ends. Intensives are designed to go deeper, faster — not as a quick fix, but as a focused reset. Instead of spreading the work across months of short sessions, we create extended space to actually stay with what matters. We look at the emotional patterns, nervous system responses, relationship cycles, family roles, resentment, shutdown, anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, betrayal, and generational patterns that keep pulling you back into the same place. For clients seeking a different kind of depth, I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy as an option for those who may benefit from expanded emotional access, deeper processing, and supported integration work. My style is direct, warm, and active. I integrate talk therapy with creative, experiential, and nervous-system-informed interventions when helpful, especially for clients who feel stuck in their head. Therapy is not just talking. It is rewiring. If you are ready to stop circling the issue and start doing deeper work with intention, an intensive or Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy-supported approach may be the right fit.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We start with the real reason you are reaching out now. Not the polished version. Not the “I probably should have done this sooner” version. The actual thing that has become too heavy, too loud, too painful, or too repetitive to keep carrying the same way. From there, we identify the pattern. What keeps happening? Where do you get stuck? What do you already understand but still cannot seem to change? What does this keep costing you — in your relationship, your parenting, your family, your confidence, your nervous system, or your peace? Then we choose the format that fits the work: a standard session, 90-minute session, or longer intensive. In an intensive, we use the time differently. We are not just catching up. We are getting underneath the surface. We may map the cycle, unpack family history, look at nervous system responses, identify triggers, slow down conflict, process resentment or grief, practice communication, and create a clearer plan for what has to change next. For couples, this may mean breaking down the fight underneath the fight. The pursuer-withdrawer cycle. The resentment. The defensiveness. The betrayal. The emotional loneliness. The “we love each other, but we keep hurting each other” pattern. For parents and families, this may mean looking at generational cycles, emotional regulation, boundaries, repair, and the pressure of being the person everyone depends on. For individuals, this may mean finally confronting the pattern you have been intellectualizing for years. The goal is not to fix your whole life in one day. The goal is to create movement where there has been stuckness — clarity, direction, emotional relief, and a deeper understanding of what needs to happen next.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with a thoughtful, grounding intake session where we explore your emotional history, present patterns, generational influences, and the deeper parts of your identity seeking clarity or change. Many clients describe this session as the first time they’ve been able to articulate the full weight of their experiences — the leadership stress, the family responsibilities, the quiet anxiety beneath accomplishment, the relational wounds, or the generational patterns they’re determined to break. From there, I offer an integrative, tailored approach that may include trauma-informed psychotherapy, art therapy, attachment work, nervous system regulation, somatic grounding, internal parts exploration, emotional pattern mapping, identity development, and relational skill-building. For children and teens, sessions incorporate creative expression, developmental insight, emotional regulation tools, and a deeply attuned understanding of sensitive or high-performing youth. My process supports clients who want depth and transformation — not just coping. We uncover how your mind and body hold past experiences, how patterns repeat within relationships or leadership roles, how family dynamics shape your choices, and how to build a grounded, aligned internal foundation that supports healthier decisions, boundaries, and connections. I work with high-achieving adults, adolescents, and families from Montclair, Short Hills, Livingston, Chatham, Summit, Essex Fells, Glen Ridge, and surrounding North Jersey communities who value premium, private, and emotionally sophisticated care. While my practice currently focuses on traditional and integrative psychotherapy, I also stay informed about emerging evidence-based modalities — including future pathways for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy — for clients who may benefit from innovative approaches as they become appropriate and accessible.

More information on payments and coverage

Jaded Hearts is a private-pay practice. This allows therapy to be individualized, flexible, and guided by clinical need rather than insurance restrictions. Payment is due at the time of service. I do not accept in-network insurance, but many clients are able to use out-of-network benefits to receive partial reimbursement for therapy sessions. To make this easier, I partner with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients check benefits, submit claims, and maximize any out-of-network reimbursement available through their insurance plan. Coverage varies by plan, so reimbursement is not guaranteed. However, clients with out-of-network benefits may be eligible to receive a percentage of session fees back after meeting their deductible. Because intensives are longer and more focused than traditional weekly therapy, payment and coverage will be reviewed before scheduling so there are no surprises. I am happy to provide the information needed for out-of-network reimbursement and can help you understand what questions to ask your insurance company. If you are looking for therapy that is tailored to your goals, not limited by insurance requirements, private-pay care may offer more flexibility in session length, treatment focus, and pacing.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support and guidance I received during my time working with Ally. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine care made a lasting impact on me. She helped me regain focus and discover a sense of purpose during a time when I felt stuck and uncertain. Each session felt safe, supportive, and thoughtful. I always felt heard and understood, and I left each conversation with new insight and clarity. I appreciate her dedication to my growth and well-being. Thank you for everything.
Alexandria is extremely professional. It was apparent that she really takes the time to understand you and cares about the outcomes of the sessions. I highly recommend Alexandria.
She provided me with a safe space to openly express myself. She listened attentively to what I had to say and provided great feedback. Will be coming back!
She was able to provide me with a safe space to express myself. She was very attentive and provided me with great feedback. Will be coming back!
I asked for help with disordered eating and the provider implied she was well versed in this. Our conversations showed otherwise. In addition I asked to push an appointment back by 10 minutes and I was charged a cancellation fee. However the provider had missed one of our sessions previously. She also ended a session halfway through and charged me the full price of the session. While I understand there is a cancellation fee, the actions of the provider prior to this “cancelled session” prove she did not take my mental health seriously. There was a double standard here. Poor communication prior to the sessions, during and after. Would not recommend.
