Alexis Collins, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I am Alexis. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a passion for helping individuals and families move from feeling overwhelmed or disconnected to feeling more grounded, understood, and empowered. I work with children, teens, adults, and families navigating a range of emotional and relational challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem struggles, self-harm, family or relationship issues, and traits of borderline personality. I also have experience supporting people through life transitions, identity exploration, and trauma recovery. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-focused care, and attachment-based interventions. I aim to create a safe and supportive space where each person can explore their experiences at their own pace and begin to build lasting emotional resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our work together, you can expect a space that is warm, non-judgmental, and grounded in mutual respect. I show up with curiosity, compassion, and patience, and I invite you to do the same for yourself. My style is collaborative and flexible. I’ll meet you where you are emotionally and tailor our sessions to your needs, whether that means building coping tools, exploring past experiences, working through relationship patterns, or simply providing a safe space to talk and be heard. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We’ll proceed at a pace that feels right for you, and I’ll be here to support you as you deepen your understanding of yourself and move toward greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions to better understand what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and what has or hasn’t helped in the past. From there, we’ll start identifying patterns, triggers, and strengths, and we’ll work together to set goals that feel meaningful to you. A typical session might include talking through what’s been coming up for you lately, building coping tools, exploring deeper emotional experiences, or reflecting on relationships and past experiences. I may gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns, offer grounding techniques, or help you notice what's happening in your body and emotions in the moment. My approach is always collaborative. You’re the expert on your life, and I’m here to support you in navigating it with more clarity, resilience, and self-compassion.
