Getting to know Alexis Cook

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I believe that healing happens through genuine connection, collaboration, and creating a space where you feel truly seen, respected, and supported. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges, helping you build insight, confidence, and practical tools to thrive. I am an LMSW psychotherapist grounded in compassionate, trauma-informed care, with experience supporting individuals across the lifespan. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and major life transitions. I am deeply committed to providing an affirming, non-judgmental space that honors cultural nuances, lived experience, and the unique strengths each person brings into the room. I earned my Master of Social Work from Syracuse University and my Bachelor of Social Work from Florida State University. My professional background includes individual therapy, group facilitation, medical social work, and care coordination in both clinical and community-based settings.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is collaborative, warm, and personalized. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities to tailor therapy to your specific needs and goals. I value authenticity and openness, and I strive to create a space where you feel empowered as the expert of your own story.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I know that starting therapy can feel daunting, so it’s important to start by connecting person to person. I’ll spend time getting to know your experiences, strengths, and challenges so that we can work together to identify goals that feel meaningful and achievable. From there, sessions are guided by your needs, with flexibility to adjust approaches as you grow and change.
