Getting to know Alexis Geller

Hi! My name is Alexis. I have been practicing as a clinician for 22+ years. I have seen, heard, and experienced it all with clients. There has not been one time where I have judged a person or their behaviors negatively. I strongly believe we are all good people deep inside, yet sometimes face challenges that bring out the not-so-best sides of us. Sometimes we want to respond a certain way, yet can't bring ourselves to do so. Sometimes life happens TO US, and we are uncertain how to proceed with confidence and calmness. I earned my Master's in Clinical and Medical Social Work from Barry University, which laid the foundation for my clinical expertise. I have been trained in several forms of therapy that allow me to help individuals or couples with whatever stressors they face. The most important aspect of my therapy is teaching clients the tools they need to wake up each morning and live their lives with appreciation and peace. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I am trained in trauma therapies, including EMDR and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I earned my MCAP (Master Certified Addiction Professional), providing me significant knowledge in substance abuse. I am also an Integrative Nutritional Mental Health Therapist, allowing me to identify root causes of ailments and discuss natural healing ideas. Additionally, I offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, which has shown incredible results with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, suicidality, and chronic pain. I am drawn to CBT and Solution-Focused modalities as well. For adolescents and children, I am certified in TFCBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), a trauma modality designed for children that uses drama, music, art, and more to help express traumas. If you find yourself in distress and are seeking help, give yourself a pat on the back-the first step in healing has been accomplished!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style of therapy is one of which there is laughter, fun and work. It is conversational and informal but at the same time, we will have direction and Ahh Haa moments.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First we will get to know each other. I will learn information on what makes you, you. Then we will get to the nitty gritty of why you decided to reach out for therapy and I will applaud you for taking that step.

Alexis is amazing. Sometimes I forget that I'm in a therapy session because it's so conversational. She has opened my mind to see things in different perspectives. I also like how each session she gives me something to focus on for the week like homework. She's very smart and genuinely wants to help. I truly enjoy working with her and look forward to my weekly chats with her!

Alexis is the best. She's a great listener, never judgmental, and always asks the best questions. She's not rigid or set in her ways, so you will definitely get the type/style of therapy that is best for your situation. There's very few people as good at their jobs as Alexis. I can definitely say I am MUCH better off since I started seeing her. 5/5
Alexis is a very caring and competent therapist. She has helped me tremendously. I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a therapist.
