Getting to know Alexis Skelley

Overwhelmed, overthinking, and holding it all together? Your search for the RIGHT therapist ends here! I help women and professionals navigate anxiety, ADHD, burnout, depression and relationship stress with practical tools and compassionate therapy. - High-functioning on the outside, overwhelmed on the inside? - Want to break old relationship patterns, build healthier connections, set boundaries, and learn to communicate without losing yourself? - Seeking therapy for the mental load no one sees? - Searching for less chaos and more clarity? - Ready to finally understand your brain—and work with it, not against it? Let’s change that. I’ve got you covered.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m a licensed clinical therapist offering compassionate, practical support with nearly 15 years of experience helping individuals with issues like ADHD, anxiety, depression, women’s health challenges, relationship struggles, and the mental load of modern life. My background includes extensive work in managing the mental/emotional side of health-related concerns, like diabetes and weight management. I blend evidence-based approaches—like CBT and strengths-focused work—with integrative strategies that honor the mind-body connection and your unique goals. Available for video and phone teletherapy sessions in NC, SC, and VA. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Carolina and earned my Bachelor’s degree from Coastal Carolina University.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy with me isn’t just talk—it’s a collaborative path toward relief, clarity, and real-life change. During the first session, I will conduct a full assessment. That means getting to know you, the concerns that you are working on in therapy, and other aspects of your life where we may connect the dots to current problems. We will discuss matters such as diagnosis and collaborate on a treatment plan. In working with me, you can expect an energetic and genuine experience in working with me, where we may share laughs, perhaps shed a tear, and/or have an “ah-ha” moment. I intend for you to walk away feeling heard, supported, and to have a tangible goal established to help you gain the outcome you are seeking. If you're reading this, I honor the courage it took to take the first steps toward change. And I am delighted at the opportunity to take part in your journey toward a happier, more fulfilling life. Let's do this!

Alexis has a gift. She is phenomenal at what she does. It has personally impacted my life in so many aspects. It is really hard to find someone you feel comfortable talking to and being honest without feeling judged. She makes me feel safe in our sessions and it allows me to open up and receive the advice that I genuinely need to benefit my personal growth. I highly reccomend to EVERYONE!
Alexis feels more like a friend than a therapist. She does a great job of making you feel comfortable talking about just about anything. I know a lot of people have to go through more than one therapists sometimes before they find someone they really click with, so I feel really lucky to have found her on my first search. I actually look forward to therapy every week because it just feels like a tea sesh with my friends. I can’t recommend Alexis enough.
