Getting to know Alexis Warrington

Ms. Alexis Warrington is a psychotherapist at Authentic Self Therapy, offering virtual consultations for adults experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, and emotional exhaustion. She works with individuals who have often felt misunderstood or not accepted for who they are, while struggling with self-doubt and the tendency to prioritize others' needs over their own. ? Ms. Warrington earned her master's degree in marriage and family therapy and child counseling from San Francisco State University. She pursues ongoing learning to stay informed about the latest research and developments in her field. ? Ms. Warrington's practice includes working with people who are highly sensitive to others' needs and expectations yet experience self-doubt and emotional loneliness. She reminds clients that feelings of emotional disconnection are more common than they may realize and creates a space where they can explore these experiences openly.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of the women I work with grew up in loving homes where emotional support was inconsistent or their emotional needs weren't fully understood. Those early experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to stress long into adulthood. The patterns you're experiencing today aren't character flaws, they're survival strategies that once helped you stay connected and feel safe. My role is to help you understand those patterns with compassion, not judgment. Together, we'll help you reconnect with your emotions, your body, and the parts of yourself that learned to survive through people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-criticism, or self-abandonment. Using an attachment-based, somatic, and parts-informed approach, we'll gently heal the wounds that continue to shape your present so you can stop living from survival and start living from choice. Over time, you'll learn to trust yourself, set healthy boundaries without guilt, quiet your inner critic, and build relationships that feel secure instead of uncertain. Most importantly, you'll reconnect with the confident, authentic version of yourself that has been there all along. You don't have to keep carrying this on your own. Healing is possible, and I'd be honored to help you find your way back to yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each 45-minute session is a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin making sense of the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that have been shaping your life. In the beginning of our work together, we'll focus on getting to know your story, understanding what has brought you to therapy, and building the emotional resources and sense of safety needed for deeper healing. From there, we'll gently process the experiences that have shaped you, grieve what was missing, and begin creating new ways of relating to yourself and others. Our sessions typically begin with a brief check-in before deciding what feels most important to focus on that day. Sometimes we'll explore something that happened during the week. Other times, we'll notice a recurring relationship pattern, process a painful memory, or work with an emotion that feels stuck. I'll guide you with curiosity and compassion, but you'll never be forced to go anywhere you're not ready to go. Together, we'll help you reconnect with your emotions, your body, and the parts of yourself that have been working so hard to protect you. Over time, you'll begin to trust yourself more deeply. You'll be able to say, "I know myself. I know what I need. I know what I feel. I know I'll be okay."

Incredible therapist, definitely recommend if you are struggling with anxiety and other stress related symptoms. She meets her clients where they are abd supports them to where they want to go.
Alexis has a unique ability to help clients connect the dots between childhood emotional neglect, attachment trauma, and the patterns that continue to show up in adulthood. She thoughtfully integrates somatic therapy with attachment-focused work to help clients move beyond people-pleasing, self-abandonment, anxiety, and low self-worth. If you're looking for a therapist who truly understands how early relationships shape the way we see ourselves and others, I highly recommend Alexis.
