Alfiya James is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Georgia. She also earned a Master’s degree in Science from Tatar State University of Humanities and Education in Russia. Many years ago, while teaching foreign languages to adults, her students often described her classes as psychological relaxation sessions despite the intensive language training. Alfiya’s sophisticated interpersonal skills—including empathy, warmth, acceptance, genuine affect, interpersonal perception, and focused attention—have been invaluable in building trust and providing psychological comfort during assessment and therapy sessions throughout her social work career. Alfiya’s experience includes clinical assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy in substance abuse treatment clinics, outpatient mental health agencies, and private psychiatric settings. She has worked with a diverse range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, geriatric clients, couples, and groups. What distinguishes Alfiya is her genuine passion for helping others; she continually seeks to improve and provide the most effective services. Nothing is more rewarding to her than supporting clients’ growth and positive change. Her treatments are individually tailored, considering age, culture, gender, level of distress, personal strengths, and intellectual and emotional makeup when selecting theories and interventions. Alfiya has strong intuition and clinical judgment about what will work best for each client. She is experienced in CBT, Schema-Focused Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Therapy. To enhance outcomes, she also incorporates techniques from Rational Emotive Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Positive Psychology..
