Getting to know Alice Gong

Alice is a psychodynamic therapist who works with individuals navigating life transitions, relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, and feelings of isolation. In recent years, many people have struggled with increased disconnection, and Alice strives to provide a collaborative, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and less alone. She understands the courage it takes to begin therapy and approaches this work with care, curiosity, and respect. Alice takes a psychodynamic approach to help clients explore how past relationships and experiences shape current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. With greater insight, she integrates CBT and DBT-informed strategies to support coping, behavioral change, and emotional acceptance. Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed framework, with an emphasis on safety, validation, and building trust throughout the therapeutic process. Alice has experience utilizing these approaches and creating a safe space working with survivors of rape and sexual assault during her Master’s training. As an Asian American therapist, Alice is especially mindful of the cultural, familial, and systemic factors that can make seeking therapy challenging for Asian Americans and other marginalized communities. She welcomes conversations around identity, culture, and intergenerational experiences, and works to create a space where these topics can be explored openly and without judgment. Grounded in these approaches, Alice tailors therapy to each client’s individual goals. She believes there is no set roadmap for life and is committed to meeting clients wherever they are in their journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide psychotherapy services only and do not prescribe medication. Our first appointment is a free 15-minute call to make sure I am the right fit for you. Since COVID-19 and advancements in technology, many people have felt the weight of isolation and the frustration of feeling misunderstood. Navigating life’s transitions—or simply managing day-to-day life—can feel overwhelming when it seems like there’s no one to turn to. I recognize the courage it takes to reach out for support, and I hold that trust with deep respect. To me, therapy is a mutual process where we work together to foster understanding and connection. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where you can feel supported and truly heard. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College, which has equipped me with the skills to guide you through this journey. In our work together, I take a psychodynamic approach to help us uncover how past relationships and experiences shape our current thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Once we gain this insight, I incorporate CBT and DBT techniques to support you in developing healthy ways to cope, modify, and accept these patterns. I maintain a trauma-informed perspective, prioritizing safety and validation to ensure you feel secure throughout our work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Above all, I focus on what YOU want to achieve. There’s no one-size-fits-all roadmap for life, so I am here to meet you exactly where you are, ready to support your unique journey.
