Alicia Flores, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Alicia! My name is Alicia Flores, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I have ten years of experience working as a therapist with pre-teens, teens, adults, and families both in person and virtually. I also provide therapeutic services in Spanish. I use various treatment modalities tailored to each client's needs. These include, but are not limited to, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. I have primarily worked with pre-teens, teens, families, and individuals struggling with depression and/or anxiety ranging from mild to severe. Mild to moderate intensity is best suited for telehealth, and I am most comfortable effectively treating these levels of impairment. My approach to therapy centers on creating a non-judgmental, safe, and empathetic environment where clients feel heard and empowered to work toward their treatment goals. Several factors attracted me to becoming a therapist. One was the immense reward I felt as a life coach when clients met their goals. I also recognized the healing power of being truly heard by another person, and I knew I could provide that with the right training and my natural listening ability. Lastly, I am deeply interested in my clients, their stories, and their recovery from emotional and mental challenges. Setting goals in treatment is critical as it provides a compass for both the client and me. Goal-setting is directed by the client and occurs at the beginning of treatment, with modifications made as needed along the way. During your first session with me, you can expect a safe and caring environment where your journey toward healing begins.
