Hello, I'm Alicia. I believe in working in partnership with my clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. I understand how crucial it is to consider all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being, including physical health, support systems, work or school environment, and faith or spirituality. This holistic approach is central to my practice. I work with children, adolescents, families, and adults, and I have extensive training in treating childhood trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My expertise includes evidence-based treatment modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Over the past twenty-five years, I have gained valuable experience in community mental health settings, school social work, inpatient psychiatric facilities, child and family agencies, community health, mental health advocacy organizations, and private practice. In my practice, I utilize a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychoeducation, Play Therapy, Behavior Modification, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques. My primary goal in counseling is to help others regain hope for a future filled with a sense of identity, spirituality, morality, self-acceptance, self-worth, and overall happiness. I attained my formal education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where I earned my BA in Psychology and M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Integrative Treatment from a CACREP Accredited program. Additionally, I hold a degree in Non-Profit Management and Leadership (NPML) in Public Policy & Management. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Currently, I am the owner and lead clinician at SkiWise Behavioral Health & Wellness Services, where I aim to provide training and cultural intelligence to up-and-coming clinical professionals. My journey in mental health has always been my divine purpose, and I strive daily to make a positive impact in the lives of my clients. If you feel that we might be a good fit, I would be honored to support you on your path to healing and growth.
