Getting to know Alicia Lomas

Hi there, I'm Alicia! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Lombard, Illinois, and work with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University and a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. With over 10 years of experience, I work with clients of all ages, specializing in mood and anxiety disorders, stress, trauma, and women’s issues. I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients achieve their goals and improve their overall health and wellness. My approach Although my approach varies based on client needs, I always view each client through a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and holistic lens. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Treatment to cultivate healing. My focus I specialize in working with adults of all ages dealing with anxiety disorders, depression, stress, trauma, and women’s issues including life transitions, relationships, fertility, pre- and postnatal care, new motherhood, parenting, and caretaking. I also work with aging adults on challenges such as coping with grief and loss, chronic pain and illnesses, and sudden life transitions. I believe in holistically supporting clients by helping them find integration of body, mind, and spirit. My communication style I strive to create an approachable, relaxed, and calm environment. I prioritize understanding clients’ points of view and having compassion for their feelings and experiences. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up as a high-level competitive gymnast, I was exposed to the importance of peak physical fitness for optimal performance. As long as I was standing on top of the podium, I ignored physical and mental ailments.
