What should a new client know about working with you?

Weekly sessions, either remote or in-person, are important to establish a trusting and stable working relationship. Evidence-based research studies show an association between weekly psychotherapy sessions and positive outcomes for clients. This is especially important in the first stage of therapy, when we are building rapport and beginning to get to the core of things. My approach combines elements of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy. By examining your life experiences from early childhood to the present, we can identify how past experiences are impacting current patterns and behaviors that may be roadblocks in becoming the person you aspire to be. We work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan together to identify your goals and progress. In this safe space, I strive to meet you exactly where you are and provide the necessary support for your personal growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe it is crucial to acknowledge the significant role that social, cultural, and environmental factors play in our overall health and ability to cope with stress. My immigrant family background shapes my clinical lens and allows me to understand the complex cultural and family dynamics that affect our health and our ability to feel comfortable asking for help. My goal is to provide you with a warm and welcoming space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings with comfort and understanding. I view humor as an important tool to connect with my clients and remind them that as humans, we are inherently imperfect and it is okay to acknowledge that. Our work together will develop effective ways of coping with life’s various stressors, strengthen your relationships, and transform your thinking so that you are no longer your harshest critic.

My practice offers an honor system-based sliding scale. This means that we do not ask for proof of income or other documentation of financial hardship, but we do ask that you pay the highest rate that you can afford based on your financial circumstances. There are a limited number of sliding scale spots in each clinician’s caseload. If at any point you are able to afford more than your agreed-upon fee, please communicate this to your therapist so they can open this spot for another individual in need.
