“Alicia is very attuned to me in session, always bringing a grounding presence and tone, and seems to have an innate ability in empathetically guiding me towards what it is that is most important to work on while always empowering choice throughout my EMDR therapy process. Since seeing her I have seen lots of progress that has shown up inevitably in my marriage, work and personal life. I feel very grateful to have started my EMDR therapy process with Alicia and as a therapist myself, I would recommend anyone, regardless of where you are on your journey, to give her a try as a guide for you!”

Getting to know Alicia Richmond

I am a combat veteran and have been a therapist for over 25 years. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University. After graduating, I worked at a local hospital for 12 years and maintained a thriving private practice specializing in at-risk adolescent therapy for 12 years. In 2012, I joined the US Army, where I was privileged to serve as both a Soldier and a therapist for six years. I continued working in the same capacity as a civilian until I left to begin a private practice in 2022.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize evidenced based treatment specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as others (CPT, CPT-i, PE, CBT) to work through life experiences that have shaped negative thought patterns in order to move towards a more positive thought process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session we will work on resolving past and current trauma, conflict and stress. I will teach you real time skills to decrease the intensity/disturbance of physical and/or emotional responses as well as triggers and anxiety.

I've been seeing Alicia for just over four months now, and I can honestly say she has changed my life. From the very first session, it's clear how deeply attentive and genuine she is. She listens with empathy, understands where I'm coming from, and has given me the tools and insight I needed to feel more like myself again. I’ve seen many therapists in the past, but none have made such a profound impact like her. Alicia has helped me build a life that feels worth living, and I’m so incredibly grateful for her support. She truly is the best, and I can't recommend her enough.
It’s not easy trying to find your perfect fit, someone you can feel incredibly comfortable speaking to. Alicia has been amazing, accepting, and completely in tune with me, and I’m so grateful to have found someone so caring and kind that was willing to take on my situation. I’m feeling very grateful for her and highly recommend Alicia to anyone looking for an amazing person to speak to.
