Alison Burke, LMHC

Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Alison! My name is Alison Burke. I have been doing therapy for eight years. I specialize in children and adolescents, trauma, depression, anxiety, relational stress, substance abuse, and abandonment issues. My approach I am passionate about building therapeutic relationships; it is within relationships that healing and growth occur. I believe that sharing your story with someone while experiencing acceptance creates a genuine connection and drives the therapeutic process. I embrace a client-centered, strength-based narrative approach. My focus I embrace a client-centered, strength-based narrative style that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy coping skills to help clients overcome some of their daily struggles with mental health symptoms. My goal is to provide an empathetic place where clients can move towards psychological wholeness in their everyday lives. My communication style My communication style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I am here to listen and reflect to my clients what I am hearing. I focus on emotional identification so clients can better understand what they are feeling and point out any patterns as we are speaking. I also make sure to verify with client if they are experiencing the same emotions. My journey to mental healthcare I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling along with a Child and Youth Specialization in Counseling from Western Seminary in 2019. I got into the field as I really wanted to help others create health in their daily lives. In some of my experience. I am certified and trained in CPT, CBT+, and as a designated crisis responder, or DCR level III. My goals for you I work on client's goals by listening and reflecting their emotions to find patterns so a client can better understand themselves to really know what they do and why they do it. Lastly we work on micro goals and celebrate the little wins.
