Alison Hanna, LMHC

Alison Hanna, LMHC

Psychotherapist
WA
I'm board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors and licensed by the state of Washington, LH60731945. I hold a Master's degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University. I believe you are the expert in your story, and when you feel safe, heard, and understood, change can begin to happen. I take a collaborative approach and believe therapy works best when we are a team. While I treat a wide variety of concerns, I am especially helpful in areas including political anxiety, generational trauma, relationships, parenting, life transitions, women's issues, women in tech, and trauma. My approach I operate from a client-centered lens, believing the foundation of good therapy is the relationship we establish as therapist and client. Client-centered therapy is typically successful when the therapist creates a safe and supportive environment for clients to make sense of their experiences. I draw from existential, feminist, solutions-focused, and CBT therapies. My focus I typically work with clients who struggle with relationship concerns, want to process trauma, establish boundaries, or understand their family relationships. I enjoy helping parents work through parenting concerns and understand their own childhood trauma. I also work with women in tech who are looking to process stress and anxiety related to operating in traditionally male roles. My communication style I am warm, direct, and genuine. In our work together, I find it helpful to offer techniques and optional homework that support what we work on in session. My journey to mental healthcare I've been in practice for ten years and have worked in a variety of capacities. In every setting, the driving force behind this work is the incredible resilience people have. Being able to witness clients' growth from the beginning to the end of our work is such an honor. I became a therapist because I wanted to work with people and understand their stories.
