Hi there, I'm Alison! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience working with individuals, youth, couples, and families facing various issues. I believe counseling helps people recognize their strengths and use them to work toward a more positive and rewarding future. My approach I use a solution-focused perspective, viewing individuals as experts in their own lives. I provide goal-directed treatment emphasizing strengths. I believe the relationship, connection, and trust between client and counselor are key to a helpful counseling experience. My focus I primarily work with individuals facing recent life transitions such as starting college, moving to a new city, changing careers, becoming a parent, or leaving a long relationship. These transitions often bring emotions and challenges that can be hard to process. I also support those coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. My communication style I describe my style as approachable. Deciding to seek therapy can be difficult, so I strive to make clients feel safe, comfortable, and validated in all interactions. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a counselor for 20 years. My interest in people and their backgrounds led me to this field. During my undergraduate studies, I interned as a Crime Victims Advocate, which showed me the power of simply being with someone in their time of need. Working as a case manager with families involved in the child welfare system revealed how unresolved mental health struggles can impact families across generations. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, further equipping me to support individuals and families on their healing journeys.
