Psychotherapist
NY
Many people come to therapy uncertain of what they need to feel better. But they know they're hungry for deeper meaning in life, to understand their inner world and discover a self they can love. You may have experienced emotional wounding as a child, feel caught in self-destructive patterns or low self esteem. Perhaps you're searching for purpose or a sense of belonging. Your life may feel marred by co-dependency, anxiety, shame or hopelessness. Maybe you simply need a place to feel seen and understood. Our work together can help you uncover your deepest needs and teach you to regard yourself with compassion and insight. My work is highly relational, warm and authentic: designed to provide you with a reparative emotional space to explore the source of your suffering and grow into new ways of being. Self-awareness and self-compassion are the two most effective ways to find inner peace. Research proves that we need both to thrive. I invite you to reach out and connect if you are interested in this kind of therapy or simply have a question. You will be held with care whether we work together or not. I wish you good luck on your journey!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style combines practical skill-building with classic psychodynamic (talk) therapy. I include mindfulness and existential perspectives when appropriate, and somatic and body-oriented interventions to establish safe anchors for my clients. I also value the exploration of archetype, myth and the unconscious as pathways towards insight and richer relationship to self.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Psychotherapy sessions are once per week for 50 minutes. Depending on your needs you may be in therapy anywhere from 6 months to several years. Therapy is not a quick fix- it's an opportunity to enact deep change that will improve the richness and quality of your life.
