Getting to know Alison Weix

I offer individual, family, and couples therapy tailored to your unique needs. My approach is somatic-based and emotions focused, emphasizing resilience and healing in a nonjudgmental and empathic manner. I believe in the power of connection and support, guiding you on your journey towards emotional well-being. Together, we can create a space for growth and transformation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I practice under a person centered and somatic approach for most of my clients. What this means is that I don't believe one style of therapy fits every individual, but one thing I know for sure is that our mind and our body are very interconnected! With me, you will find that we focus less on the context of the events that have happened to you and sit more in the emotional and physical sensations. We live in a world where self help books and strategies are plentiful, but we are often left still feeling like crap because we are ignoring the somatic sensations (emotional and physical connection)

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first meeting will be a lot of information gathering and sharing. These sessions cover many of those legal and ethical obligations we have as counselors, while trying to gather as much information about the client as we can. After that we are able to focus more on what your goals are for therapy and how we plan to obtain them. I typically start sessions casually checking in on life and events that have happened since we last met. I find that this time allows my clients to settle into the therapy room and the relationship. I tend to follow my clients wherever they go in conversation, as I believe it is my job to make connections and identify patterns in the client's life and behavior, not to tell what to do.
