Getting to know Allison Anderson

As a clinician with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas, I bring a unique blend of professional expertise, lived experience, and a sense of humor that helps create a relatable and supportive therapeutic environment. I understand firsthand what it's like to face mental health struggles because I've been there. My own journey has given me deep empathy for the challenges my clients face and a passion for helping them navigate their own path to healing. I believe that healing is a deeply personalized journey that looks different for everyone. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to growth, and I honor that by offering a mix of hard work, compassion, and honesty in our sessions. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches, I tailor our work together to meet your unique needs. I focus on treating the whole self-your body, thoughts, emotions, relationships, and creativity-because true healing often requires attention to every part of who you are. Whether we're working on managing anxiety, building self-compassion, or navigating complex relationships, I strive to provide the tools and insights that will foster meaningful change and growth. Life is full of both pain and joy, and I want to help you be present for all of it. While the hard moments can feel overwhelming, they can also lead to transformation. Through a mix of exploration and actionable steps, I'll guide you toward building a life that feels balanced, intentional, and fulfilling. And yes, we'll likely laugh along the way. Therapy doesn't have to be all serious, all the time. Sometimes a little humor is exactly what's needed to bring lightness to the process of healing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that healing is a deeply personalized journey that occurs in a lot of different ways. I offer a mix of work, compassion, and honesty to create a space that fosters change and growth. I draw from a variety of approaches depending on each client’s unique needs, treating the entire self: body, thoughts, emotions, relationships, and creativity. Life is full of both pain and joy, and I want to help you be present for all of it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting therapy is a courageous step toward healing and growth. My goal as a holistic therapist is to provide a warm, supportive space where you feel valued, understood, and empowered. At my Fort Worth office, you’ll find a calm, inviting environment. You’re welcome to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea as we settle in. We’ll review your intake paperwork, which offers essential background on: - Your reasons for seeking therapy - Medical or mental health history - Current challenges and goals This process is just a starting point. You control what you share, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Our first session focuses on getting to know you and understanding your story. We’ll discuss: - Why you’re seeking therapy now - Past therapy experiences - Your goals for therapy I’ll also share how I work. My holistic approach considers mental, physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being. You’ll have time to ask questions about therapy, such as: - How often should I come? - How long will therapy take? - Will there be between-session work? - How do you handle specific issues like anxiety or trauma? No question is too small. My goal is to ensure you feel informed and comfortable. Establishing trust is key. This is your space to share without judgment. We’ll also discuss confidentiality and how your privacy is protected. By the end of the session, we’ll identify initial goals and priorities. These provide direction while remaining flexible as your journey unfolds. Healing extends into daily life. I may suggest optional practices like journaling or mindfulness to help you integrate our work. Therapy is a collaborative process tailored to you. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling supported and hopeful about the road ahead. I’m honored to walk with you on this path toward healing and growth!
