Dr. Allison Bauer is a postdoctoral fellow who has a passion for helping children, adolescents and adults thrive. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, grief/loss, ADHD, relationship concerns, perinatal mental health, and life transitions. Dr. Bauer utilizes an evidence-based, integrative approach, tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each individual in order to both reduce distress and help her patients flourish. She specializes in evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She fosters a warm, collaborative environment, in which she both honors an individual’s expert knowledge of themselves, while also providing them with tools to cope and thrive. Dr. Bauer has varied experience in both clinical and school settings. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Zucker Hillside Hospital’s Behavioral Health College Partnership, where she provided therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. She has also worked in elementary, middle and high school settings. Dr. Bauer has a special interest in Positive Psychology and strengths-based therapeutic approaches. During her graduate training, Dr. Bauer served as clinic coordinator for the Positive Psychology Institute for Emerging Adults. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the creation and implementation of Positive Bereavement interventions to support individuals healing from the loss of a loved one and navigating prolonged grief. Her dissertation was nominated for the H. Alan Robinson Award, which recognizes outstanding, innovative, doctoral research. Dr. Bauer was also the recipient of the 2024 Ted Bernstein Award, recognizing her for exceptional work supporting youth and their families. In her free time, Allison enjoys playing tennis, watching movies, arranging flower bouquets and going to the beach.
