Getting to know Alynne Davis

I am a licensed mental health counselor and expressive arts therapist in NC and SC, holding a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University. I specialize in eating disorders, perinatal mood disorders, and all women's issues. I have had the pleasure of witnessing hundreds of clients successfully achieve recovery from challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, body image, self-worth, ADHD, abuse, divorce, parenting, and other mental health stressors. Drawing from my own life experiences with some of these issues, I share how I found lasting freedom and will guide you toward breaking free as well!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I base the foundation of my approach to therapy on trauma-informed CBT, CBT-E, mindfulness, and solution-focused. I also use expressive art therapy, as a tool,to deepen the therapeutic alliance and understanding of deeper issues that may be harder to verbalize and process. My goal is to provide a kind, non-judgmental, compassionate relationship for us to work as partners to find a solution that is sustainable and long-term.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The initial session will be time to gather information about your history, current concerns and to also get to know one another to make sure that we are a good fit. Typically I am very client-centered and follow the lead on areas of focus for proceeding sessions, but I also offer a more structured approach depending on the area we are treating (i.e. disordered eating). I also will demonstrate practices of mindfulness, grounding techniques, and other practical exercises that are also useful outside of our therapy sessions.
