Alyssa Brunton, LMFT

Psychotherapist
3625 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, #106, Westlake Village, CA
You may be feeling as though what you are experiencing has no meaning and that you're drowning, unsure where to turn for relief, support, or even just a listening ear. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults to help find purpose in the pain and identify the skills needed to cope. We often seek therapy when we realize we can’t do it on our own. I am here to support you through those difficult experiences. A safe space and someone to trust can make a huge difference in how comfortable we feel challenging ourselves and experiencing emotions we might otherwise do anything to avoid. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Northridge, which informs my approach to providing compassionate, effective care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working together, I want you to know we will go at your own pace. I am here to challenge you when necessary while also allowing the space to process difficult feelings. I believe that we are all experts in our own experiences, and I will work with you to identify relevant barriers and goals. I aim to support my clients in finding their own hope, and their own humor in life, as both are equally important. I use an eclectic cognitive behavioral approach to support your process of creating meaningful change while making lasting changes in how you can relate to yourself and your own journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I want therapy to be a collaborative process. We are all experts in our own experiences and I will work with you to identify alternatives to negative coping skills and identify barriers and goals. I aim to support my clients in finding their own hope, through the dark and the light.
