What should a new client know about working with you?

Sometimes we find ourselves stuck in behavioral patterns, whether it be in addiction, unstable relationships, or self-destructive behaviors, and can’t quite figure out how to break the cycle. Often, our freedom from this cycle lies on the other side of building insight around how our past is still present. We can do this in a number of ways, and some of my favorite approaches include targeting specific events that have become intrusive memories through EMDR, or targeting negative beliefs you hold about yourself that are not 100% true through CBT.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is what we call the "intake". This is where we get to know each other and lay out the details of your pain points, goals, and strategies to move forward. We will discuss your personal history to gain an understanding of how your life experiences, family dynamics, social supports, and even genetics may be impacting your present day challenges; what we call a "biopsychosocial" assessment. This is the start of our therapeutic relationship, and your opportunity to lay it all out so you are no longer carrying it alone! From there, we schedule ongoing sessions as appropriate, ranging from weekly, biweekly, or monthly individual or couples sessions. If you are recovery or would like to be, weekly group therapy for additional support in this journey is also available.

While I am not in network with any insurance providers, I do offer superbills, which are documents that you can submit to your insurance to seek reimbursement and/or have your services billed towards your deductible. I do work with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's), which are benefits offered by many employers that often cover a set number of therapy sessions for you, your partner, and any dependents in your home. You can find out about these benefits through your company's Human Resources department.
