Getting to know Amanda Eckl

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) allowing me to independently practice psychotherapy. I am also a social worker by trade with over 10 years of experience in the field. My primary experience was in child welfare as a foster care case manager, but I have also worked in a therapeutic group home and outpatient mental health agency.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents 12 years and older, and I offer family counseling. My areas of focus include anxiety, trauma, family discord, foster care/adoption and attachment/relational wounds, although I can address other needs as well. My approach is rooted in supportive therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed care and CBT, while my orientation stems from family systems and attachment theory. I also utilize other modalities as appropriate. Many of my clients aim to increase self-awareness, insight, compassion, understanding and nervous system regulation and I am LGBTQIA+ affirming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The intake session focuses on gathering information about the presenting and historical needs. The following sessions continue the therapeutic assessment to help identify goals for the comprehensive treatment plan. Subsequent and ongoing sessions focus on the client's goals with facilitation by me, as the professional, encouraging you to dig deeper, gain insight, and enact meaningful change.
