Amanda Felix, AMFT

Amanda Felix, AMFT

Psychotherapist
444 E Huntington Dr, Arcadia, CA
I work with couples, families, and individuals navigating relationship concerns, communication difficulties, family conflict, anxiety, ADHD, emotional overwhelm, and recurring patterns that can create tension or disconnection. My background working with emotional regulation, executive functioning, anxiety, and self-esteem helps me understand the individual experiences that often shape couple and family dynamics. Stress, attention difficulties, emotional reactivity, different communication styles, and past experiences can all affect how people respond to one another. My approach is practical, collaborative, and strengths-based. I help couples and families better understand the patterns contributing to conflict, communicate more effectively, and identify changes that can improve the way they relate to one another. I also work with individuals who want to better understand their own patterns and how those patterns may be affecting their relationships and family life. I am part of the clinical team at Aspire Counseling Group in Arcadia, California.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I pay attention to both the relationship or family system and the individual experiences each person brings into it. This may include differences in communication, emotional regulation, attention, expectations, stress responses, and the roles people have developed within the relationship or family. I help clients look at interactions from more than one perspective, recognize patterns that may be keeping problems going, and identify changes each person can realistically make. My role is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help everyone better understand what is happening and work toward the changes they want to see.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Early sessions focus on identifying the changes you would like to see in your relationship or family and understanding the patterns that may be getting in the way. We look at what tends to happen during difficult interactions, what each person brings to those situations, and what has already been tried. Sessions often involve troubleshooting and problem-solving, recognizing what is helping and what is not, and separating what each person can control from what they cannot. Depending on your goals, we may work on communication, emotional regulation, boundaries, expectations, parenting differences, follow-through, conflict resolution, or rebuilding connection. We revisit what is working over time and adjust our approach as the needs of the couple or family change.
