Getting to know Amanda Fludd

You've taken the first step, and we're so glad you're here. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, but at Kensho Psychotherapy Services, we make it simple. Whether you're navigating anxiety, work stress, relationship challenges, grief, political stress, or just overthinking everything, you don't have to figure it out alone. We see you, we hear you, and we're here to help. I'm a trauma-trained Afro-Caribbean therapist with over 17 years of experience, holding a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. I love what I do-I love other people's problems-because I know they don't have to define you. My team and I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults, offering a safe, supportive space where you can show up as your full self-without judgment. We are one of the few minority-led practices in the area, providing culturally responsive, down-to-earth therapy with an approach that is compassionate, practical, and real. Whether you're struggling with people-pleasing, choosing yourself, childhood trauma, or feeling stuck in cycles of overwhelm, we tailor our work to you. We value quality care, client confidentiality, and making sure you feel seen every step of the way. If you're looking for a therapist who gets it-and a team that prioritizes your well-being-we've got you. We offer in-person sessions in Lynbrook and virtual therapy for flexibility. Our practice also includes an EMDR-trained therapist for deep trauma work. Take a deep breath and reach out today. We're ready when you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

At Kensho Psychotherapy Services, we bring real experience, depth, and quality care to every session. We are seasoned, highly trained therapists—not interns, not students, not just checking a box. Our approach is conversational but intentional—we’re not here to just nod along or hand you a worksheet and call it therapy. We listen, we challenge, and we bring practical, evidence-based skills to the table. We help children, teens, and adults break cycles, develop skills to set boundaries, and cope with life through a mix of exploration, new perspectives, and great strategies. Our team includes an EMDR-trained therapist for trauma work, a child therapist, and we offer both virtual and in-person sessions in Lynbrook. Expect a warm, judgment-free space where you can be yourself—because healing isn’t about pretending, it’s about doing the work in a way that you are excited to move forward.
