Psychotherapist
IL
Hey there! My name is Amanda Grippi. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience and hold a Master’s in Counseling from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. I am passionate about helping people reach their goals, whatever those may be. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but you can just be yourself! My clients often say they appreciate that I am down-to-earth and work as a team player, not an authority figure. I have experience working with all ages, from preschool through adulthood, and enjoy them all. My approach I use tools from many therapy approaches because there’s no one-size-fits-all method. I listen to what clients hope to gain and use strategies that best match their needs. I am always client-centered, empathetic, and open-minded. I am solution-focused whenever possible so clients have practical ways to address challenges. I am a trauma-informed therapist trained in EMDR and commonly use strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Gottman techniques. My focus All clients are welcome, though I have a special interest in working with people on the Autism spectrum. I am a culturally competent therapist with experience supporting individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community. Being Cuban and American, many clients appreciate that I personally understand multicultural issues. I also work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, or navigating day-to-day challenges. My communication style I strive to convey that I am a safe person to be yourself with. I bring my authentic self to therapy rather than adopting a therapist persona. I want my clients to feel they can do the same. Many clients say they appreciate that I am down-to-earth, open-minded, and don’t just tell them what I think.
